If you are looking to reserve as much physical space as possible when car camping, overlanding, and what not, this charcoal starter is a deal. It’s seriously engineered stout. True stainless steel folds flat and comes with a storage bag.I took a risk buying this because I always focus on the negative reviews. However, the negative reviews I have seen here seemed superficial and did not really seem to reflect what their images tried to convey. For example, there is a complaint of poor engineering as the unit does not open fully square. That is correct but not a flaw. It’s part of the design to allow it to double fold without tension. Hence the elbow bend in two corners. Another complaint, similar to the previous complaint is that the bottom grill is square but the housing isn’t. That relates to my previous answer and it is cheaper to build a square grill than one with special notched corners and nor squared design to match the housing. Why bother doing that? The grill is meant to hold the charcoal at a set height and it does. Speaking of that grill…It is stout!! I mean the bar thickness is insane for the unit. That grill plate will outlast the housing and is just as stout as the bars found in a Weber charcoal starter (which I also own for the house grill). I haven’t found any sharp edges but I can’t vouch that is always the case.What I love about this unit?- It’s stainless steel all around.- It’s a great design. Easy to open and collapse.- It comes with a decent quality storage bag with decent zipper.- It stows away in my truck easily and will fit in any nook or cranny of space you have left on a road trip.Is there a con? None that I can think of. It’s too simple to nit-pick.

This product is ok I guess but it certainly won’t be winning any awards for manufacturing quality. Sharp edges all over it, doesn’t quite align so is a bit of a pain to press the grill part down into the retaining clips and finally, the handle is so widely spaced that when assembled it makes it difficult to hold, even with larger hands. Not too bad and will do the job but I was a bit disappointed overall. I suspect the uni flame version is better which is Japanese and made in Japan too. I believe this Campingmoon one is made in China.

Very high quality build with the right gauge of steel. Only used it once, but can tell the steel will withstand many years of use starting charcoal. I love that it’s compact and folds flat.
